PRESS RELEASE

ScriptLink to support wireless access via ETE Communicator

ETE and Momentum announce joint project designed to speed
development time of wireless Newton applications

MacWorld, Boston, August 2nd 1994 - Momentum has inked a pact with
ETE to integrate its ScriptLink client/server technology for the Newton
with the ETE Communicator platform. The joint development agreement
calls for ScriptLink to support the wireless technologies offered by the
ETE Communicator, including access to the nationwide RAM Mobile
Data and ARDIS packet radio networks in the United States and Mobitex
network operated by BellSouth Mobile Data in Australia. Future options
to be offered also include cellular and landline modem support.

"The challenge of wireless communications has been to provide the
appropriate hardware support in tandem with the required middleware.
With the ETE Communicator and ScriptLink working together, we can
offer Newton developers a powerful combination of leading edge
hardware and software in one integrated package" said Howard Griffith,
ETE Vice President of Marketing.

The immediate goal of the joint project is to shorten the development
cycle for organisations who wish to deploy wireless Newton systems in
the field. The requirement for painstaking development of a wireless
communications subsystem is eliminated by using the ScriptLink API in
conjunction with the ETE Communicator hardware and communications
interface. Developers can utilise AppleScript (Apple Computers system
level scripting language) to communicate with the Macintosh based
ScriptLink Server. Standard Macintosh software can be used to provide
much of the host functionality required for any Newton application.

"The response to ScriptLink from Newton developers has been extremely
positive. One of the consistent requests from our beta test group was
support for wireless connections, and we are confident that ETE have the
leading product in the market at this time" said Todd Hooper, Marketing
Director at Momentum.

Shipping dates and distribution channels of any products relating from
the alliance have not been established. "The wireless release of
ScriptLink could be a separate product, or we may roll it into our existing
product line" said Hooper. "We'll see what our users want and take it
from there".

The ETE Communicator

The ETE Communicator is a portable communications and navigation
server that transforms Newton PDAs into a mobile communications
center. Among the enhanced capabilities offered by the ETE
Communicator is a cellular phone with hands-free communication,
wireless digital packet radio, global positioning system and a data/fax
modem.

Announced in January, ETE will be demonstrating the ETE
Communicator at MacWorld Boston this week.

ScriptLink

ScriptLink offers Newton developers a flexible mechanism for
controlling a server Macintosh using AppleScript, Apple's powerful
scripting language for the Macintosh. Combining the flexibility of
AppleScript with the mobile computing power of the Newton, ScriptLink
enables developers to quickly build customised solutions using off the
shelf software packages. Release 1.0 of ScriptLink is compatible with
industry standard AppleTalk networks.

ScriptLink 1.0 was announced in July 1994 and commenced shipping this
week.
